Happy Easter!

Back a few weeks ago to mark the beginning of Lent, we played hooky from church and decided to take Camille out to walk the Redwood Loop at Henry Cowell Park. Unfortunately, by the time we got there, the morning mist had become full-fledged morning sprinkles, and the dirt loop would have been a muddy trek. So we decided to continue down Highway 1 to Santa Cruz, and we stopped at a nursery to enjoy the crisp morning air.



On Palm Sunday, Jen performed on the piano at Los Gatos Presbyterian Church (where she is a staff organist) with Lawrence Granger, a cellist from the San Francisco Symphony. Michael Gibson, who is the church's musical director, had written an arrangement of Schubert's Ave Maria intended to imitate the arrangement used in Walt Disney's Fantasia, and Jen was excited to play it with the wonderful cellist (and violinist from LGPC, who is also a great musician.) The church had also hired a local petting zoo to bring in a donkey named Joshua, so that the kids could pet the donkey and have photos taken waving palm branches and snuggling up with him. Camille loved it.



Today we celebrated Easter with a total of 16 friends and family members - quite a large get-together for our little home, but since the weather was nice and Jen's garden is in full bloom, we stayed outdoors most of the time. Our little waterfall was babbling, children were running around, hunting eggs, sliding slides and blowing bubbles, the wisteria was at its most fragrant, and there were all the deviled eggs you could eat - along with ham, rotisserie chicken, apple pie, candied yams... all adding up to a relaxing and pleasant afternoon.
